"Chope" Culture in Singapore

Using tissue paper packets to "chope" (i.e reserve) seats is common place in hawker centres, coffee shops and food courts in Singapore. However, there is much debate on whether this is an ungracious act or a practical way to secure one seats in a crowded food place.
