Even within the intimacy of romantic relationships, sexual assault can happen as long as consent is not given. For Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April, we find out how common it is for couples to talk about consent, and why they should start doing so.

"There is the misguided belief that women offer “token resistance” - that they typically say “no” when they really mean “yes” - as part of culturally prescribed scripts for sexual interactions. Researchers call these “sexual scripts” - outdated narratives where men initiate and pursue sex and women are gatekeepers responsible for limiting and saying no."" - Shailey Hingorani, head of research and advocacy at AWARE
