Check out our latest insights on Budget 2022 featured on Bloomberg and Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报 today:

This year’s Budget 2022 aims to 'charter a new way forward', bringing Singapore into its recovery phase after over 2 years of the pandemic by increased taxes, greater support for workers and of course, the GST hike. We polled N=1,000 Singaporeans and residents to find out sentiments towards Budget 2022, and how they anticipate these measures to impact them.

Some of the key findings:

- There is an overall positive sentiment towards the budget with 43% of respondents very positive, positive or somewhat positive towards Budget 2022

- Rise in GST (85%) and property tax (40%) were voted as the top two measures having the largest impact on the respondents

- More than half (52%) are unsure if the measures announced are sufficient to help Singapore get back to its pre-pandemic economic position

- Only 37% strongly/somewhat agree that measures announced help them to feel more reassured about managing costs of living

- There is a skew towards 45-54 year olds (48%) who indicated that the additional government support does not provide sufficient help for middle-age or older Singaporeans with their employability
